Programme Manager Mercedes-Benz Apprenticeship Programme
I joined Carter and Carter as a Training Officer with EMTEC Training, that would some years later become one of the subsidiaries of the Carter and Carter Group.Initially I was employed as a Training Officer responsible for the training and progression of learners' qualifications on the Peugeot Modern Apprenticeship Programme. This involved not only teaching of learners but managing their duty of care while in training on block release, liaison with learners' employers, parents and on occasion the manufacturer.During my time with the company I moved internally to the Citroen Apprenticeship programme and took up a Training Co-ordinator/Supervisory role. My learner numbers were reduced which enabled me to support the Programme Manager in the development of the training programme, course content, dealer and accommodation liaison and trainer supervision, during this time I forged a close link to the Training Manager at Citroen UK which made the delivery of Manufacturer Specific courses a valuable addition to the training delivered. The last position held within the company was that of Vocational Learning Manager with the Daimler Chrysler UK Apprenticeship programme. I was responsible initially for the Heavy Vehicle and Parts supply elements of the programme for Mercedes-Benz. My responsibilities were much the same as previously with the addition of managing budgets, monthly reporting to the manufacturer, negotiating with suppliers, recruiting and retention of staff members. During my time with the company I was promoted to Programme Manager for Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler and technical delivery elements of the programme from the Sixhills site in Leicestershire nationally delivering against tight targets during the company's time in administration. The DCUK Programme hit all of its target with respect of qualification delivery student achievement rates and cost management during this time whilst managing to retain a good level of morale amongst the team.
