NYnet is a provider of high-speed connectivity to the public and private sectors. NYnet was established by North Yorkshire County Council (now North Yorkshire Council) in 2007, with the aim to improve connectivity and broadband services across the North of England for both the Public and Private Sectors. To achieve this NYnet built and now operates a profitable high capacity fibre network across the region, providing Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Managed Internet Access. Over £120m has now been invested in improving the County's digital infrastructure.NYnet has delivered WAN connectivity to over 900 Public and Private Sector sites through a resilient 10Gbs fibre network. NYnet’s network is proactively monitored to help exceed all of the Service Levels and technical requirements required by both Sectors. We currently have a performance level of 99.997% availability on our CAS(T) accredited network services which ensures that NYnet is a leading service provider. OnePhone provides businesses with cloud telephony combining all aspects of fixed and mobile. Launched initially in Sweden, OnePhone subsequently partnered with KPN to launch a joint venture in Germany and with BT in the UK. In April 2021 BT exercised their option to buy-out OnePhone’s 30% interest in BT One Phone, valuing the company at around GBP300m.

In 1987 Peter founded MACH in Luxembourg as a joint venture between Kinnevik and Digital Equipment Corp. (DEC). At the time of its sale in 2001, MACH was clearing more than half of all GSM roaming traffic worldwide – in excess of 7bn transactions p.a.

Netcom AB was founded in 1993 but in 2001 changed the company name to TELE2 AB. During this period Millicom International Cellular SA, was a NASDAQ listed international mobile operator. Millicom and Racal were the founding partners of Vodafone. Microtel was formed in April 1990 as a consortium comprising Millicom (25%), Pactel Corporation (25%), British Aerospace (25%) and the French company Matra (25%). The following year, as a result of post-award changes made by the UK Government to the national WT & PTO licences , Millicom, Matra & Pactel sold their stakes to British Aerospace. BAe subsequently took Hutchison Telecommunications (UK) Ltd as a partner, who eventually acquired Microtel from BAe, renaming the company 'Orange'.
