My career history spans 30+ years with the Ambulance Service, 1986 to the current day.I joined the Norfolk Ambulance Service in 1986 starting in PTS for 18 months then progressed to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 1988.In 1990 I qualified as a Paramedic and quickly afterwards became a Clinical Supervisor overseeing the newly qualified staff.In the 1990's the Norfolk Ambulance Service merged with Suffolk and Cambridgeshire to become the East Anglian Ambulance Service. In 2000 with Essex, Beds and Herts to become the East of England Ambulance Service. I was promoted to Clinical Team Leader in 2004 running Cromer Ambulance Station in North Norfolk.In 2008 I was promoted to the post of Clinical Operations Manager (COM) overseeing the delivery of high quality, patient focusssed clinical care from around 240 front-line emergency staff.Although my overall responsibilty was for the delivery of high quality, patient focussed clincal care the COM role had many other duties which included:-Recruitment of new staff for all staff gradesTraining of new staff and existing front-line staff (annual CPD/PU)Mentoring of all front-line staffClinical Supervision of new and existing staffQuality perfomance of all staff including their understanding and abilty to meet service delivery needs, times and targets.These included monthly AQI's, KPI's and CQINN's, Stroke 60, STEMI 150 as directed by the Trust.The main emphasis of my role was on clincal quality to improve patient outcome and reduce risk of litigation/malpractice to the Trust.In 2014 I was seconded to Freetown, Sierra Leone (Oct-Dec 2014) where I was helped coordinate the Ambulance Service response to the Ebola crisis. I spent 6 months attached to 111 as their Clinical Lead (Oct 2015-Apr 2016) I am currently working for the East of England Ambulance Service as a paramedic clinical advisor in the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and aiming to become a qualified paramedic tutor by mid 2018.
