These projects have been particularly challenging, with a number of constraints that have meant difficult decisions and discussions have been needed to progress the design. As part of a wider framework, I have been key in setting out the way that my project would approach steps, such as sifting, and then sharing this with other schemes within the framework for them to adopt. My role has included: - Managing the option identification process and chairing option identification and other workshops- Developing and executing the sifting methodology for the scheme- Preparation of scheme documents, particularly the Staged Overview of Assessment Report- Preparation of scheme health and safety documentation (site risk assessment) and taking in a lead on improvements across the framework.- Undertaking initial cost estimating exercise using WebCAST, and providing information to cost estimators.- Identification and management of design hazards during the options phase.- Discussions and presentations with the client to undertake Value Engineering exercises.- Design programme reviews.Additionally, across the Framework I have been called upon for my knowledge and experience undertaking this work, sharing and promoting best practice amongst the wider team. As part of this scheme I ran workshops to understand the client's aims, compiled an application for funding for the project (for each stage in turn), undertook the feasibility stage with support from others, coordinated discussions with local landowners and local authorities, and sifted options to produce a preferred solution. Following a further application for funding, I then managed the detailed design procress, including presenting at a public consultation, and finally supervision, which was undertaken as the initial COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdowns came into effect. Throughout all this I provided regular updates to the client in the forms of dashboards and other communications and managed the project to a financial success for the company.Design Lead responsible for the design and delivery of National Highways concrete roads renewals and life extension works, as well as for the delivery of other road renewals and designated funds schemes. Site Supervision of the installation of a filter drain adjacent to a runway. Monitoring of the installation to ensure compliance with our design, and reporting any non-compliance. Production of shift reports with details of work undertaken and any deviations, as well as potential issues identified for future shifts. Also undertook a role for a LEAN Yellow Belt project to improve the way we captured information on site through the use of tablets.Highway Engineer then Highways Lead on a Highways England Stage 1 & 2 project, developing potential options, sifting them to produce preferred routes for consultation. Design engineer working on the upgrade of an existing motorway to provide >20km of Smart Motorway All Lane Running. Primary tasks were to renew/replace the existing signage, retaining where we could, to fit within a very limited verge space.
