Peter Standring is an award winning broadcast journalist, writer, and edit producer, who has crafted high profile shows, series, and documentaries for major networks and streamers on both side of the Atlantic.He has broad experience across a range of genres, including news, factual, natural history, science, food, travel, and un-scripted TV programs.Most recently, Peter has been working for UK-based production companies, writing and overseeing the editing of shows destined for US-based broadcasters like National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, Disney+, Apple +, CNN, etc. Employers value his script writing and story-telling skills, and his ability to work quickly under tight deadlines. Prior to this, Peter specialized in science, conservation, and natural history reporting, and his work has been featured on nationally televised shows in America, like “Nova Science Now” (on PBS), National Geographic “Today”, and “NG: On Assignment”, (both featured on the National Geographic Channel). Peter has also served as host of the National Geographic News podcast and "World Music" podcast, and “Nat Geo Now”, a nightly news break on the National Geographic Channel. Over the years Peter has journeyed to all corners of the globe to investigate groundbreaking scientific research, to encounter the world’s most wonderful and interesting animals, and to witness both man’s and nature’s most intriguing spectacles. Among his many adventures: tracking mountain gorillas in Uganda, assessing the status of endangered harpy eagles in Panama, rescuing stranded puffins in Iceland, unearthing the secrets of the ancient Maya in Guatemala, exploring the roots of voodoo in West Africa, seeing firsthand the impact of global warming on Greenland’s glaciers, learning the mysterious ways of indigenous shamans in Peru’s Amazon basin, and diving along pristine coral reefs in the waters north of Cuba.After earning a Master’s degree in Communications from Boston University, Peter got his start in broadcasting by working in “local news”, serving as a reporter and anchor for network affiliates in Ohio, N.Y., CT, and Boston.
