  Peter Steinhauer is an artist photographer, who was living and working in Asia for twenty years beginning in Vietnam 1993. His photography focuses on architecture within urban landscape, man-made structure, natural landscape and early in his career, portraiture. His prints are in the collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art, The American Museum of Natural History - NYC, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and a growing number of private and corporate collections worldwide. His photography focuses on architecture within urban landscape, man-made structure, natural landscape and early in his career, portraiture. His prints are in the collections of the Carnegie Museum of Art, The American Museum of Natural History - NYC, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum and a growing number of private and corporate collections worldwide. He is a recipient of numerous international photography awards including a finalist for the 2014 and 2017 Lucie Awards, Ford Foundation grant for his multi year work in Vietnam, and three Communication Arts Photography Annual Award of Excellence awards, among others. Steinhauer is also a member of the elite Explorers Club in New York. He is the co-founder, with his wife, of Vietnam Society, who promotes Vietnam in the Washington, DC area through Art and Culture and is dedicated to the peace and reconciliation process from the effects of the US / Vietnam war. Steinhauer’s first artist monograph, Vietnam: Portraits and Landscapes, was published by Edition Stemmle of Zurich in 2002. Enduring Spirit of Vietnam, his second artist monograph was awarded Best Photography Book of the Year 2007 by Photo District News (PDN). Cocoons, Steinhauer's third monograph was published by Powerhouse Books in January 2019 and won the prestigious Lucia Award for Book of the Year 2019.Steinhauer currently lives in Washington, DC.
