  I counsel some of the country's leading companies in environmental matters, and have represented and litigated successfully on behalf of transportation concerns, mining companies, agribusinesses, chemical manufactures, developers, banks and petroleum companies.On six separate occasions I was named The Best Lawyers in America® Lawyer of the Year in St. Louis for Environmental Law or Environmental Litigation, including 2019, 2020 and 2022. Chambers USA has given me a top tier ranking for Environmental Law from 2014 to the present. In 2021 I was ranked among the Lawdragon 500 Leading Environmental & Energy Lawyers (by Lawdragon Inc.), I was inducted into the American College of Environmental Lawyers as a fellow. I have also served as a past chairman of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis' Environmental and Conservation Law Committee.With my colleagues at Thompson Coburn, I founded the Environmental Health and Safety Leaders Network, a group of leading environmental, health and safety professionals from companies and institutions from across the Midwest. For this group, I've organized presentations given by the top attorney for EPA Region 7 and the lead federal investigator of the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board.
