I established the Newsdesk as a key function of the Treasury’s communications team, setting up call handling and media monitoring processes for one of the busiest press offices on Whitehall. Wrote and implemented the Treasury’s first ever multi-disciplinary Union communications strategy.Delivered Union and regional communications for key fiscal events including the Spending Review and the Budget.

I oversaw the team responsible for ensuring the Government’s response to the pandemic was communicated in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales as well as through regional, BME, consumer and other specialist media. Helped to shape the daily coronavirus press conferences by increasing attendance by Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish as well as regional and BAME journalists.
