Peter Tilbrook was inducted into the SA MUSIC HALL OF FAME on 28th March 2014 along with John Bywaters from the Twilights, the very first two inductees into the SA Hall of Fame.THE MASTERS APPRENTICES:Around May in 1967 whilst living in Melbourne, Peter was approached by three members to join The Masters Apprentices another top Adelaide band that was also in Melbourne at the time. Peter was in the Masters apprentices in their Hey Days when all the action was taking place sometimes playing 40 minute spots at four different clubs / dances a night, playing at huge concerts with audiences of up to 110,000 people like the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne and huge outdoor shows. He was also in the band when they were given equal first prize in the National Hoadley’s Battle of the Bands, a national competition with about 1,400 bands competing. They received the first prize, which included a trip to England from Sitmar, an opportunity for the band to eventually record at Abbey Road Studios London along with some clothes and cash prizes. Peter was in the band when they were voted the Most Original Pop Group In Australia by Everybody Magazine and Go-Set Magazine in 1968 Peter whilst in the Masters was hailed by top music writer in Sydney David Elfick and Go Set magazine as the greatest rhythm guitar act in Australia. Peter Played with the following members of The Masters Apprentices Jim Keays, Steve Hopgood, Gavin Webb, Tony Summers, Colin Burgess, Denny Burgess in 2002, Doug Ford, Mick Bower, Brian Vaughton and Glenn Wheatley Peter played with The Masters Apprentices on the 2012 GO SHOW which ironically was the very last time Jim Keays performed with the Masters. The final line up of The Masters was Jim Keays, Glenn Wheatley, Colin Burgess and Peter Tilbrook. Jim Keays passed away on Friday 13th June 2014.
