The sound localization team is an ambitious project that aims to use an array of microphones to locate the source of a sound using numerical methods. The bulk of my work in this position has been taking over the python simulator project, it was a huge challenge to wrap my head around all the module and class hierarchies in such a large object oriented software project. I mainly worked on improving readability and user friendliness, adding and organizing documentation, writing testing tools, profiling performance, and simply wrapping my head around all the math and signal processing. I also go to learn how to use Linux while writing C and python scripts to profile candidate microcomputers for data acquisition.It has also been a privilege to build a high level understanding for such a project, know the documentation inside and out, and guide my colleagues working on the firmware and hardware design.

Reference: adrian@bearwatchsystems.com I started by researching and understanding the power electronics that goes into electric fence pulse generators. I investigated the potential design changes and settled on a new transformer to reduce weight by about 33% without compromising too much on power output and without having to pay for a new injection mold casing design. I spent time reaching out to manufacturers across the world, effectively communicating technical requirements, and got 2 leads on companies willing to make custom parts within spec.I modelled candidate designs in LTspice, and checked compliance with UL standards. I also worked designing and supervising high voltage test procedures(I did not touch live equipment for liability reasons) and processing/visualizing datasets to profile energizer performance under different loads. I developed a python program to automate the data processing once it became too repetitive to do in Excel and reduced the time to process test results by 80%.

My job was to identify and process samples from mining sites so that they are adequately prepared for chemical analysis. I had to properly organize samples and ensure that they met quality control standards.
