The PhD thesis describes four factors which might affect pathways driving academic inventions to innovations. In a EU wide survey using longitudinal, empirical analyses relationships between those factors contributing to succesfull commercialization of academic inventions into Innovations are discussed. These four factors are a.) Innovation/ science policy at national level, b.) Intellectual Property law in relationship with patent ownership, c.) Governance and mgt. of university KTOs and d.) Motivational drivers (research, recognition or application/ entrepreneurship) of individual scientists to commercialize their research. The thesis concludes that the contribution of entrepreneurship driven scientists, exploiting their patents in spin-offs, is the most important factor in these pathways.

By the end of 1995 the the company split into a two divisions (consultancy and projects) and the latter was acquired by Arcadis NV. Major clients: provinces, municipalities, development banks, EU, WorkdBank.Before on behalf of several clients involved as self- employed consulting engineer in bioprocessing Technologies of manure in the agricultural sector. The final products were disseminated with EU testmarketing programma financed by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture and sold to fatmers’ corporations within the EU.
