Peter van Rooyen was born and raised in Lisse, The Netherlands. As a teenager he started his own family funded investment fund. This fund, although limited in size, was decisive for his education and career path. In 1997, Peter van Rooyen started his career as Business Analyst at HAL Capital Management, where he covered the Telecom, Media and Business Services. Although HAL Capital Management focused solely on investments in the Dutch stock market, Peter covered industries from a global perspective in order to understand key industry themes in other countries, with the aim to make better portfolio choices.From 2000 to 2013 he worked as an Investment Manager at Talpa Capital BV, which was renamed Cyrte Investments BV in 2006. During this period Peter was responsible for launching and managing various funds. Characteristics of these funds: Concentrated (typically between 10-35 stocks per portfolio), invested in various geographic regions (global, Latin America, Brazil, and Africa), and thematic in nature. Innovative in approach (e.g., transferring themes to other geographic areas and to other sectors) and first to market (such as sports franchises, data centers, and fiber optic networks).In 2013, following the split of Cyrte into two separate companies, Peter left Cyrte for Dasym Investment Strategies BV, the company that was split from Cyrte. Here Peter continues his activities as Chief Investment Officer of the company. Responsibilities included: Managing investment mandates, starting with determining the strategic asset allocation while considering the client's return and risk profile. These mandates include a diverse set of investments: equities, bonds, private equity, and hedge funds. Conceptualizing, launching, and managing new equity funds with a thematic focus, responsible on behalf of Dasym for Dasym SICAV Global Select Fund, which was established jointly with UBS. Advising clients on various strategic financial and investment matters.Peter left Dasym in June 2024 to pursue new business opportunities.Peter van Rooyen holds a master’s degree in Business Economics, Investment Theory track from Tilburg University. In 2001 Peter obtained his Master of Financial Analysis' degree and his CEFA registration.
