I am a highly experienced software engineer working with COBOL as the primary language in a systems programming environment.Micro Focus Enterprise Server is a Transaction Processing System designed to support COBOL Web Services as well as emulating CICS, IMS and JES mainframe subsystems. It is supported on a wide range of Windows and UNIX/Linux platforms.I have been part of the development team for this product since the mid-1990s.During that time, I have been involved in both feature development and maintenance of the product.I have often had the opportunity to engage directly with the client base both on the telephone and through site visits to resolve issues arising in live production systems where speed of response critically impacted their business.Before joining the Enterprise Server development team, I spent five years as a technical sales support engineer within Micro Focus’s France operation.Prior to being employed by Micro Focus in 1990, I worked with a variety of companies including Westminster City Council and Standard Telephones and Cables.I was trained as a computer programmer by British Oxygen Company in 1982. During my career I have taken up formal professional training where offered as well as broadening my knowledge through self-study.
