I have been fortunate to work under my parents in the family company since I was fifteen. I started in the retail store helping customers troubleshoot pool chemical imbalances as well as teaching them tips and tricks for maintenance and service of their pools. Upon turning 18 I switched into the construction department of the company and worked my way from being a laborer to manager. I climbed the ladder quick with my ability to understand and learn the processes when building a pool. My ability to effectively communicate with my employer, co-workers and clients has helped me gain knowledge, experience and insight in the pool industry. I have a great understanding in project management and strategic planning due to this communication, but also by understanding the multi-phase process of building a pool. Each phase requiring different materials, tools and worker skills based on the capacity of the the job. I recently have started working on a spreadsheet to aid in monitoring job pricing by tracking additional cost not anticipated from the start. This will help the company keep an eye on where they are losing and gaining profit so that they can digest, pivot, and make a change.
