Field experience includes projects with the Ontario Geological Survey ( Mineral Deposits Group ) on structural controls on gold mineralization and evaluation of Cr resources in Ontario. Consulting work as Whittaker Geological Services was geared to PGM minerlaization in North America, primarliy for Normaco Explorations. I took over management of the Mineral Science laboratory at Falconbridge Ltd. in 1991. Since then, mineralogical services have been aimed at supporting mining and processing operations in Sudbury, Kidd Creek, Raglan, Kristiansand, Collahuasi, Antamina, Mt. Isa, South Africa and related exploration projects. Current goals are to promote development of new mineral analysis applications to commodities such as coal, gold and uranium and promote all services to companies outside of Xstrata business units.Specialties: X-ray microanalysis of minerals using electron probe microanalysis systems on Cambridge MkV and Cameca SX100 probes, Cambridge, Amray and Tescan scanning electron microscopes. X-ray diffraction analysis of geological materials using mainly Siemens and Bruker powder XRD's.
