Responsible for all proactive media handling across a number of policy areas of the Schools Desk. These include teacher recruitment, retention and pay, school admissions, class sizes, behaviour and EdTech.The role is at the heart of the Department for Education’s media team and wider Government communications. I work closely with Ministers, Special Advisers and Downing Street communications to consistently secure national media coverage for the DfE’s policy initiatives through press releases, interviews, comment pieces and media events.I co-ordinated all media activity around the launch of the Department’s Teacher Recruitment & Retention Strategy, securing an exclusive interview, and front-page splash, with The Guardian on the topic of flexible working, alongside widespread print coverage in other media outlets.I have also secured national coverage on a range of announcements, including the launch of behaviour support networks for schools, the publication of a toolkit to reduce teacher workload and additional incentive payments for maths and physics teachers.

Responsible for both proactive and reactive media functions concerning the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground, Emirates Air Line cable car and London Trams. My role revolves around protecting, maintaining and enhancing the renowned Transport for London brand in their award-winning Press Office. This includes consistently securing local and national media coverage through proactive releases, reactive statements and media events. I also produce social media content for TfL's corporate feed, distributed to over 2.2 million followers. Creating story opportunities through building successful working relationships, not only with influential media outlets and bloggers, but also with key internal stakeholders is an important part of my role, as is close collaboration with local government at the Greater London Authority.I co-ordinated all media activity around the launch of Night Overground services, including writing the press release, managing all social media content as well as collating supportive stakeholder videos and clips of Night Tsar, Amy Lamé, promoting the opening. I also organised a media event on the launch night itself where bloggers and local journalists rode the first southbound train from Dalston Junction to New Cross Gate.Following an initiative to make on-train announcements more personal, and therefore memorable, local media picked up the soulful, Barry White style, voice of Jacob Cole, a DLR Passenger Service Agent. I secured features on ITV London and Timeout as well as an appearance on This Morning to publicise this programme of work.Secured global coverage of TfL's Lost Property Office. This involved briefing journalists from across the world, where my fluency in French was a significant advantage.

The Graduate scheme gave me great experience of a variety of communication projects. My responsibilities ranged from tourist information packs to concise briefing documents for local politicians. • Completed a placement in the Press Office where I wrote press releases on the London Marathon and signing of the Armed Forces Covenant. Also responsible for responding to press enquiries and creating video content to be used extensively on social media, which is essential to reach our target audiences• Produced a series of visitor itineraries (Top London Attractions, Bus Route 94 & Transport Design Icons) targeted at reducing congestion at key locations across London• Worked in the team responsible for the Walking Tube Map Zones 1-3, including all National Rail lines where close liaison with internal and external stakeholders was essential• Wrote a series of case studies on small, independent businesses across the TfL estate to highlight the work done to support SMEs thriving in TfL owned units• Summarised multiple communications into a one-page briefing document relating to the Upper Holloway Road Bridge closure. This status report was sent to Jeremy Corbyn’s office on a weekly basis• Drafted the organisation’s response to a GLA report on ‘Transparency of the GLA Group and Family’ which was sent to the Chair of the London Assembly, Tony Arbour AM• Developed an online tool map collating all digital platforms used across the department• To encourage knowledge sharing between employees, I organised and presented at lunchtime seminars where specialists from across the company would talk about their business area• To underline the importance of Knowledge Management in a department where 47 per cent of staff are employed as Non-Permanent Labour (NPL), I produced a series of infographics summarising the challenges faced across the team

I worked in the Training department teaching conversational English for apprentices and Business English lessons for an HR manager. I was also responsible for designing the content of a schools visitor programme to engage effectively with young people.

I taught solo English language classes to 15 pupils, for most of whom English was a third language. This involved writing my own lessons with highly relevant content which was key to securing positive student participation in a very challenging environment.
