Gunkel Architecture focuses on providing humanitarian and affordable housing relief in the Bay Area, with a diverse portfolio of housing scales and typologies ranging from single-family renovations to urban-scale multi-family projects. As the firm began to acquire larger projects, I was brought on to spearhead their professional transition from AutoCAD to Revit Architecture. As the office's lead BIM Manager, I was responsible for establishing the firm's core BIM design methodologies, project templates, file structures, graphic standards, et al, associated with Revit. I regularly gave instructional lectures to upskill staff to prepare the office for the transition, and was solely responsible for developing the drawing set and digital model of our largest new construction project, a roughly 120-unit affordable housing development. Shortly after SD drawings were submitted to the city, the project was stalled indefinitely, resulting in the temporarily elimination of my position.

During the COVID pandemic, as many industries slowed, the gaming industry boomed, and I decided to take my design skills to a new market. For the last two years, I've been regularly making custom overlays for professional e-sport players and streamers on Twitch, with a focus on designing custom controller overlays. These overlays not only help to showcase the players' mechanics to their viewing audience, but also integrate and further develop their logos to give their stream a more professional, design-crafted aesthetic. I have designed overlays for multiple members of the pro Rocket League/streaming community, including Ashllxyy, Mittens, Chronic, Karma - the first professional female Rocket League player - and a handful of private clients.

I had the good fortune of meeting Iknur Ozgur, founding member and Director of Arstillery, when we were paired together for IIDA's 2018 CRE8 Fashion Show, a fashion design competition opened exclusively to designers of the Dallas architectural design industry. It was only after we emerged as one of the three winning teams of the event that she graciously invited me to join the board. I served for roughly three years, usually at some remove, and made modest contributions as the de facto Architectural Design Liaison on the board. These contributions included helping envision future developments on Artstillery property, and facilitating the development of mixed-use housing in the Dallas area, in conjunction with local developers and architects, as a consultant to the City of Dallas.

Worked as the BIM manager on a $240M 40-story luxury class residential tower in Honolulu through the project's late schematic design through construction documentation phases. Regularly coordinated and managed digital file transfers between all consultants on the project, and was the central team member consistently developing the architectural Revit model. Assisted with the design of the tower through multiple design iterations; produced renderings, presentations and physical models to further project development. Sat in and contributed to weekly calls with the client developer. Was chosen by the firm on multiple occasions to help develop separate design competition work; produced physical models, renderings, and technical drawings for submission. Developed and orated an office-wide lecture that challenged conventional notions of organic design in the field of architecture.

Assisted in the design and construction of multiple developments ranging from 100,000 - 300,000 ft2, with budgets from $10M - $24M. Regularly represented the firm in correspondence with contractors and consultants, reviewed submittals, issued technical drawings, analyzed conflicts and attended client meetings. Was selected by the principals to exclusively manage the firm’s professional licensure. Rose from the position of Arch I to Arch II during my tenure.

My freelance design outlet focused on furniture-scale interventions. Completed projects include: two CNC-routed installations for Dallas-based nonprofit The Better Block - a modular enclosure in 2017, and a pop-up restaurant concept in 2018 - a modular shelving unit for a private client, and a self-commissioned solid walnut credenza.

Six-month full-time internship in conjunction with my coursework at the University of Texas. Worked primarily on two 40-story residential towers in the heart of Chicago, in schematic and construction phases, respectively. Produced iterative renderings, physical models, presentations and construction drawings; corresponded with contractors and worked closely with project architects to explore design solutions for the tower under construction.

Produced detailed CAD plans, marketing plans and 3D renderings for clients of the University of Texas Athletics Department.

Summer internship primarily spent helping Lester build his personal home. Worked as a laborer in the mornings - typically cutting steel, laying stone, welding, and pouring concrete - and produced hand-drafted drawings for his clients in the evenings.
