About Peter Russell
I have just recently returned home to Sydney after spending a little over 6 months in Vancouver working for the University of British Columbia. My role there was a perfect blend of customer service and administrative duties, within the purchase card program.Prior to this, I spent 12 months in London working at Morgan Stanley within the OTC Commodity Operations department, more specifically in the margin and settlements team.In addition to controlling margin calls with other counter-parties and overseeing the settlement of all derivative trades, I provided daily support to several hundred traders within the commodities spectrum. This role allowed me to refine my skills in problem solving whilst gaining experience in the institutional side of client services. Before this, I spent 4 years at Shaw Stockbroking, a medium-sized Sydney and Melbourne-based firm with over 100 financial advisors. Whilst there, I gained invaluable office and market experience working directly with several senior advisors as a Trading Desk Assistant. Beyond the trading side, I spent considerable time in every department of a broking firm including research, portfolio management, corporate and administration. In addition to this, my role was to act as the liaison between the front and back offices to ensure tasks were completed effectively. Throughout my time there I refined my skills in customer service and sales, through the effective management of client relationships. My main objective in Sydney is to expand my knowledge of the finance industry by taking on a new challenge at a growing and reputable company. I consider constant learning an important part of employment as well as a strength of mine, and I would therefore like to incorporate this into my medium-term plan.RegardsPeter Russell
