Canadensys is a network of 30 Canadian university-based biological collections, aiming to digitize and share the specimen information held by these collections (www.canadensys.net). The network is headquartered at the Université de Montréal Biodiversity Centre.Tasks and responsibilities:• Lead the design and development of the network architecture and central portal, including the Database of Vascular Plants of Canada (http://data.canadensys.net/vascan).• Assist collection managers with the digitization, database management and publication for their collection.• Coordinate the communication within the network’s community and organize workshops.• Be involved in the testing and development of international tools and standards, including Darwin Core (http://bit.ly/DarwinCore, bit.ly/AppleCore) and the GBIF Integrated Publishing Toolkit (http://bit.ly/GBIF-IPT).• Link the network to global initiatives and be knowledgeable of new developments.

The Belgian Biodiversity Platform is an initiative of the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office, established to promote biodiversity research in Belgium (www.biodiversity.be).Tasks and responsibilities:• Acquire and manage data, promote, and develop the UI for an online reference database on biodiversity research (http://biobel.biodiversity.be).• Coordinate several digitization projects in the context of the Belgian GBIF node, including the African Rodentia project (http://projects.biodiversity.be/africanrodentia).• Help to organize events and develop online forums (e.g. for http://ias.biodiversity.be/).
