When I took over the position, the department had been without a Director for over six months and was entering the country’s worst economic downturn. I restructured and retrained the team, completed hiring for key positions and created departmental goals for service, revenue and guest satisfaction. Reduced staff turnover rate to be the lowest among all departments and improved guest satisfaction scores by 10%• Successfully reworked the concept of our signature dining room – The Observatory – to make it among the city’s top destination restaurants. In particular, our Friday brunch moved from an empty dining room to being sold out one month in advance.
