Managed two agile projects within policing, utilising teams based on multiple sites in the UK and India. Both projects had complex requirements and dependencies, legacy interfaces, data migration and needed to meet specific security needs.

I was responsible for the recruitment, placement and training of a number of teams to work at DEFRA and HMCTS at the start of 2014. The Defra project was one of the government’s 25 exemplar digital projects in the UK and my role was crucial to the success of these two programmes of work. The scope of these projects included front end software, business engines and back end data management and processing.Both programmes of work were Open Source with a heavy reliance on Java (currently using Java 8). The Defra project introduced digital geo-positioning technology to the customer, using accurate GPS co-ordinates to plot and measure farmers’ land and store this in the system with aerial imagery for comparison (if the farmer made changes) and to enable calculations to be made based on the hectares of land. At HMCTS the focus was also on Java but the Alfresco product set was also implemented as the document store, with another Alfresco product providing the front end after heavy customisation.

I was responsible for the delivery and management of all services we provided to easyJet. These included agile development teams for the key reservations system, B2B offering and BI projects and a range of 24/7 support services designed to ensure that the airline was running smoothly and taking advantage of the time difference between the UK and India to ensure all systems were operational before the first flights checked in. I had a strong onshore presence made up of a small team of UK employees and 10-15 from India on a short term rotation basis; backed up by a large offshore team based in our Offshore Centre in Noida, just outside Delhi.
