Estate Manager - Cranlana

Current

Toorak, Victoria, Australia

"...it is a significant acreage of land (two and a half, to be precise, or just over a hectare), spread behind a long stone wall topped by an iron-picketed fence. This stately stretch of wall - high enough to be a deterrent, low enough to blend in with the surrounding streetscape - is punctuated by a set of magnificent wrought iron gates topped with an ornamental crest, emblazoned with the letters SBM. Right on top as if there as a folly, is a bronze pine-cone. The main gates, sufficiently wide when open to admit a carriage or Cadillac (as they have surely done), are flanked by two smaller access gates; beyond, an enticingly wide stretch of crunchy, cream-gravel driveway, either side of which are smooth emerald lawns. In the middle distance, to the right, is the white two-story house.Everywhere there are trees - arching, bending, threading, standing tall or spreading widely.Cypresses arrowed to the heavens, giant oaks casting leafy shadows across the lawns, a majestic sequoia that almost blots out the sky, a sumptuous pin oak with a huge glossy helmet of leaves; trees for the determined young climber or, for the less adventurous, ones suitable for admiring from ground level. The pure autumn light, filtering through a canopy of rustling foliage, creates a chiaroscuro of dappled serenity and ever-changing beauty. Clearly this is the sort of property that one calls on, as distinct from merely dropping by... This property has a name: Cranlana. And that name has resounded through the lives and memories of at least four generations of the Myer Family." - From Cranlana The First 100 years by Michael ShmithIt is my privilege to manage this wonderful property which continues to be so dearly loved by the 4th generation of it's family to this day.

Oct 2017 - Present

Owner & Director

Carrum, Victoria

After founding Cafe Moto it was quick to become an iconic Melbourne venue where everyone was welcomed and quickly became part of our community. We shouted loudly about fair wages and the importance of nurturing young people to grow into confident business leaders of the future. Running an ethical business is challenging especially so in the hospitality sector. When hit with large scale business disruption due to government infrastructure programs, it was the final blow and we had no alternative but to close our doors. HIGHLIGHTS:EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENTDevelopment of a first in kind hospitality profit share model for our staff. This disrupted the traditional model of reward and remuneration in the hospitality sector and resulted in unprecedented employee engagement and profitability for the business. COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIABuilt and designed all web and social platforms. Wrote copy and grew a highly engaged community of over 8000 followers on Facebook and nearly 2000 followers on Instagram. Established positive relationships with media agencies including 3AW radio, The Herald Sun and ABC Radio. Regularly commented on relevant issues in the media and proudly hosted an open air broadcast with Jon Faine and 774 Melbourne Radio. DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTDeveloped a strong engagement policy with local and relevant not-for-profit organisations including but not limited to Frankston Peninsula Dolphin Sports, Bunjilwarra Koori Youth Alcohol and Drug Healing Service and Destiny Rescue. Through promotions and events we raised thousands of dollars of revenue and provided multiple opportunities to engage with a wide range of community groups.

General Manager

Eureka Tower

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history, but to articulate it."- Daniel LibeskindBeing intrinsically linked with Eureka Tower from inception through the first 10 years of its evolution articulated a meaningful time in my career history. My ability to build strong relationships with Grocon, the Developers, architects, designers, unions, tenants and residents all underpinned the diverse, technical and intricate work required to consistently deliver and exceed strategic, financial and operational objectives. HIGHLIGHTS:Co-founder of the Eureka Stair Climb Challenge. During my time with the group, I worked closely with charity partners and oversaw the successful development of this iconic Melbourne event, raising over $1m for our charity partners. Managed site-specific technical production of one of the most noteworthy promotional campaigns run by Skydeck to celebrate the world premiere of King Kong (2013). We were awarded with the 'Innovative Promotional Award' from The World Federation of Great Towers. The $200,000 media stunt garnered over $1.5 million in domestic and international media coverage and subsequently increased Eureka Skydeck sales by $430,000 during July and August 2013.

Worldwide

I was privileged to spend my early career mentored by strong leaders in this Welsh Cavalry Regiment whose history dates back to 1685. Working in operational environments including counter terrorism operations, The Gulf War in Iraq and as part of the NATO forces in Bosnia I refined exceptional leadership, communication and operational skills. HIGHLIGHTS: West German border patrol operations, witnessing the events of November 9th, 1989 when the Berlin Wall came down heralding the reunification of East and West Germany. Operational participation in Iraq as part of Operation Granby/Desert Storm and the subsequent liberation of Kuwait.
