I have extensive experience in the Higher Education sector and have worked with individuals, organisations and businesses throughout the world. In 2007 I co-conceived the CareerEDGE model of Graduate Employability and in 2010 I established my own company LanHai Career Management, a specialist consultancy supporting education related business between China and the UK.At Lancaster University Management School, I work with colleagues on the design and delivery of Career Development and Employability education for undergraduate and postgraduate students. I also provide one-to-one coaching with students and recent graduates aspiring to careers in consultancy. I have also worked with large and medium sized companies to create opportunities for UK China business development and leadership training. I have also supported UK education businesses build their international opportunities coordinating translator teams and test trials at universities in China and in the UK. Providing advice, guidance and training in psychometrics, soft skills, career management and employability. Successfully secured and delivered a contract in 2011 for LanHai CML to design and deliver the ´LanHai Leadership Development Programme´ for a Swedish tech giant and their Chinese partner company in Nanjing China. Initially conceived for the senior management team, it was subsequently delivered to 50 software engineers at the Nanjing plant. The business closed in 2023 following the impact of Covid-19.

The main purpose of this role was to make a significant impact on the employability of LUMS postgraduate students including MSc Management, MSc Accounting & Finance, MBAs and PhDs. Most of LUMS postgraduate students are from overseas and therefore an understanding of international employability issues, the reorientation of postgraduate students into a global labour market and empathy for international issues is paramount.
