Peter Murphy has spent almost 40 years in the Canadian food sales industry with a strong focus on branded and private label grocery selling to all major retailers and distributors across Canada. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he spent the early part of his career with Murphy’s Potato Chips in snacks and private label brand sales including Lays, Eagle Peanuts, Cape Cod Kettle Chips, Jacks Snacks among others. At this time, Peter also helped develop a significant sales portfolio in Brazil in snack products imported from Canada with most of the major retailers there. After selling the company in 1996, Peter Co-Founded Murphy’s Food Sales and Marketing in Toronto and worked with brands including Van Houtte Coffee, Europe’s Best Frozen Fruit, Anderson Snacks (later sold to Conagra), Dainty Rice, Goldenboy Foods, Neilson Brothers, Marzetti Corp and Freemont Company and others. Peter currently manages branded and control label sales across the Canadian retail marketplace with Murphy and Partners, calling on all major retailers Principals include Sunco Foods, Van Der Muelen, Hellema, Northwest Hazelnut Company, Diatosta,and Euro caps Peter has also undertaken a number of consulting projects including Bord Bia (Irish food export), TFO Canada, Trade Solutions (Brussels) and Sri Lanka Food export in facilitating meetings with Retailers ,Importers and Distributors across Canada as well as speaking on the Canadian grocery retail landscape. Peter is a past board member of the Ontario Foods Brokers Association, among other industry associations, as well as the Ireland Fund of Canada.
