EMI has quietly become one of the most technologically advanced and automated woodworking factories in the country. Its’ capabilities and accomplishments are impressive. EMI’s investment in automation has been all-in, culminating five years ago when the old factory was torn down and replaced with a new one designed completely around the most sophisticated computer-controlled machinery in the industry. While most of the larger companies were outsourcing larger percentages of their manufacturing to the Midwest and Canada (and overseas), EMI doubled down and increased their own capacity to accomplish more work with less labor. The integration of advanced laser scanning and 3D engineering has enabled EMI to ride the BIM revolution that creates clear and early solutions to challenges facing the integration of other trades. This results in the ability to prebuild much larger portions of each project, reducing the labor required in the field, and ensuring more precision than ever before. All of this has enabled EMI to successfully complete some of the most complex and massive projects in recent history.
