After Telstra acquisition I moved from consulting to running the Kloud Southern Territory business through a challenging period of reorganisation and change.A broad and challenging role running the professional services business for the Kloud Solutions' Victorian business with ultimate responsibility for the profit & loss of the business unit. I owned the overall target and therefore also running the cloud sales team of 6 including setting and tracking the individual sales targets. Working closely with the invaluable people and culture team to lead and build the team of 100 cloud consultants operating across cutting edge business, workplace, infrastructure, identity and development practices. Computershare is a large financial services company focused on delivering leading IT solutions via the Technology Services arm. This IT group consists of some 1000 employees delivering solutions from the same global platforms, tools and application solutions.Working within a team of 6 architects responsible for delivering guidance and architecture to global enterprise platform projects delivered to regional development teams. The role required creation and presentation of global IT group strategy and subsequent overseeing of solutions aligned with those strategies. Each taken from inception, justification, costing, through to design and development with:• Creation of guidance and strategy materials, including Vision, Mission and Strategy Map to align and focus development effort;• Lifecycle estimation and costing of new business opportunities and related IT solutions; • Delivery of High-performance multilingual Content Management System on Sharepoint 2010 platform; • Delivery of centralised Identity and Access Management system supporting federation and single sign-on between multiple organisations;• Design of a high performance investor portal based on MVC Framework;• Implementation of a highly scalable web application based on Windows Azure Cloud platform for effectively serving highly unpredictable web traffic cost.

Delivery of common software frameworks and tools to customer facing and line-of-business development teams. Responsible for managing a cross-disciplined team of 16 developers and architects covering presentation, services, security and architecture. Working closely with the CTO, a “centre of excellence” team was built to improve developer productivity and implement a forward-looking architectural roadmap aligning to IT development strategy.This includes:• Authoring and mandating the “Common Engineering Criteria”, giving a benchmark for development teams and applications to develop against;• Evaluation, guidance and demonstration of cutting-edge technologies such as Sharepoint, WPF, WCF, MVC and Silverlight.

Delivering to the common needs of six independent regionalised and geographically dispersed web development teams through centralised development tools, libraries, standards and processes. Responsible for a team of 6 who developed shared libraries and applications for:• Authentication and Authorisation: producing an application security product which controls access to all the company’s internet-facing applications. Written in .NET technologies and implementing role-based security and SAML single sign-on;• MarketData: designing, implementing and supporting the corporate market data system using Reuters RIS service redistributed using high performance, cached .NET WebServices;• Content Management: creating a high performance multilingual content management system replicated globally with full approval workflow system;• Reporting an Monitoring: a large (Tb) MS SQL database with OLAP cubes presented through Excel and SSRS reports;• Application Blocks: a library of common web development components for maximising reuse across regional development teams;• Process: implementing a software development process and tools for managing and auditing the roll-out of code through to testing, handover and production. The tools initially using CVS were rewritten for TFS and the daily build and unit testing system.

When Computershare expanded into North America by acquisition, a local Internet development presence was required. Responsible for hiring, training and mentoring a team of developers that subsequently became an independent development unit. Work included: • ASP, VBScript and SQLServer to implement local changes to the company’s global software and to re-implement existing bank systems using Computershare and Microsoft technology;• Localisation of Australian web applications to North American business rules and multilingual application enhancements for French and Spanish.

Designed and developed the front end for order-routing and crossing system (ORMS). Responsible for building the base system in Australia, and relocating on-site in London to consult directly with traders at client level (UBS) to improve specific user interface issues in the demanding trading environment. The application was built using object-oriented methodologies in C++ and MFC. Similar implementation developments were later undertaken for Reuters Instinet ECN, Montreal Stock Exchange and New Zealand Stock Exchange.
