Currently, I'm one of only two people on the Narrative Design team for Sports Interactive, a SEGA Europe studio renowned throughout the video game industry for consistently releasing well-received annual titles under the 'Football Manager' brand that typically sell far in excess of one million copies across most major platforms, especially on PC/Mac.Prior to my current position as Junior Games Writer for the studio, I worked as a Licensing Assistant, ensuring that the way licensed clubs, competitions, and leagues were reflected accurately in the game, being both legally compliant and as immersive as possible to underline the company's attention to detail and vast reach on social media and content creation platforms was and remains as wide as possible.I have worked in my current role since January 2022, successfully transferring the skills I acquired from several years of freelance writing (being published in a number of different magazines and guest appearing on football podcasts, culminating in being a finalist for a national award at the Football Content Awards in 2019) to a more immediately equitable and constantly collaborative, agile way of working. No two days are the same at SI, and my work ranges from adding in-game social media snippets to improving the logic and appeal of press conferences to creating and devising entirely new features for implementation in future titles.From the early days in my career of working in administration for major national companies in the third sector providing bespoke support and assistance to people with learning difficulties, English as a second/third language, or very individualistic needs, the experiences gained have folded in well to reinforcing my empathetic and collegiate ability to work equally as well with a small team within Design to across departments at the studio, constantly looking for better ways of working and upskilling myself to further meet my own needs and anticipate future trends within both the video game industry and writing as a medium.In the spare time I have, I am working on developing some ideas I have for a science fiction novel.
