Research Portfolio Officer
CurrentAs RPO I collaborate with research funders, namely UK Research and Innovation, and external stakeholders to deliver ESRC’s funding projects across the UK. My key tasks include communication with academics, assessing research proposals, scoping and prioritisation practices for investments across environment social science research. The Environment team leads ESRC’s research commissioning, development and management activities for areas including climate change, environmental planning and sustainability, energy, transport and infrastructure. We work in collaboration and partnership with a wide range of other research funders and external stakeholders, both in the UK and internationally.I play an active role in delivering the Environment team's vision for social science. I ensure efficiency and accuracy surrounding grant commissioning, via checking of proposals and peer review selection. I coordinate meetings for the team, recording minutes and actions discussed. I support senior colleagues to analyse our existing portfolio data, and contribute to policy and process improvements.
