Peter Wilhelm has nearly 16 years’ experience conducting appraisals to support strategic decision making for a variety of business needs like intellectual property-related litigation, asset-based lending, licensing opportunities, and management and shareholder buyouts. He has worked across a range of industries including retail, food and beverage, and health and fitness (to name a few).At Gordon Brothers, Peter is a Director in GB's Global Valuations division. He manages the firm’s intellectual property appraisals with a core focus on brands, patents, and know-how valuation. Specifically, Peter oversees all of IP-related engagements from start to finish, which includes drafting and submitting proposals, client management and regular communication, team guidance and direction, overseeing the gathering of all necessary information, conducting company management interviews, reviewing the industry and market for all relevant data, and directing a team to complete the analysis (including preparation and review of all supporting documentation, drafting and submitting appraisal reports, and post-engagement follow-up).Prior to joining Gordon Brothers in 2016, Peter spent some time in the audit world providing various appraisals for financial and tax reporting purposes. Before that, Peter worked at an IP-intensive valuation firm in Chicago specializing in the valuation of intellectual property. Peter’s career began in 2008 at a smaller consulting firm where he primarily performed business enterprise and equity valuations for a variety of purposes across a plethora of industries largely located within the U.S. and Canada.Peter earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Finance and Economics from Valparaiso University. He is a Certified Valuation Analyst® with the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts® and is Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice compliant. Additionally, Peter is a candidate for the American Society of Appraisers’ Accredited Senior Appraiser certification. Peter was also selected for Top 40 Under 40 in 2022 through the Secured Finance Network. Also in 2022, Peter was awarded Gordon Brothers' internal Spotlight Award, highlighting his excellence in appraisal engagement management and expertise, customer service, and cross platform collaboration. At Ocean Tomo, Peter was recognized for his chargeability, engagement dedication, and project management. He is based in Chicago.
