When I think back to what got me interested in transportation engineering, I find it hard to pinpoint a single event or person that inspired me. I recall spending a lot of time playing with toy cars and traffic control devices when I was just a few years old. Whenever I visited a major city, I was fascinated by the highways and how much traffic they served. What really sparked my work in civil and transportation engineering, however, was how much our standard of living could be enhanced with engineering.I started my journey in my sophomore year of high school by introducing myself to the transportation profession and reading numerous textbooks, manuals, journal articles, and technical reports. I also self-learned the fundamentals of traffic engineering, traffic signal and intersection design, signal controller programming, and PTV Vissim and Vistro. Moreover, I familiarized myself with the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and AASHTO Green Book.Since 2018, I have been the first author of multiple accepted peer-reviewed journal articles and have delivered nearly a dozen conference presentations at international ITE, TRB, and ASCE meetings. I have also gained experience in the design, modeling, and analysis of both interrupted and uninterrupted flow facilities with both macroscopic and microscopic methods. I look forward to continuing to discover, share, and gain knowledge in STEM.Traffic analysis computer software experiences include PTV Vissim, PTV Vistro, Sidra Intersection, Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, CAP-X, HSS, and SSAM.Research interests include alternative intersections and interchanges, traffic operations and simulation, traffic signal operations, highway capacity, urban mobility and resilience, intelligent transportation systems, and transportation safety and security.

Transportation Engineering InternDks Associates Jun 2022 - Jun 2023Seattle, Washington, United States• Used traffic impact studies and ITE's Trip Generation Manual to forecast opening-year and design-year traffic demands for the US 101 & S Sequim Ave interchange. Conducted signal warrant analyses for the interchange in existing, opening, and design years.• Used Synchro to analyze AM, MD, and PM peak hour traffic operations in existing, opening, and design years for the existing interchange and a signalized alternative. Used Sidra to analyze AM, MD, and PM peak hour traffic operations in opening and design years for a dogbone interchange alternative.• Resolved three rounds of project review comments from WSDOT.• Used Synchro to help model 22 intersections in South Lake Union, Seattle as part of a streetcar audit project. Used Synchro to model 98 intersections in Shoreline, WA as part of a city-wide traffic project.• Conducted a Best Practice Review for the City of Bellevue’s Pedestrian Signal Operations Guidelines project. Reviewed and summarized research, recommendations, and policies from 16 national resources (e.g., MUTCD, Signal Timing Manual, Urban Street Design Guide, NCHRP Research Report 969).• Used the Highway Safety Manual to conduct safety analyses of six intersections in First Hill, Seattle. -
Undergraduate Teaching AssistantUniversity Of Washington Civil And Environmental Engineering Dec 2022 - Mar 2023Seattle, Washington, United StatesCEE 410 Traffic Engineering Fundamentals• Developed three lab assignments on Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro, and AutoTURN with basic freeway segments, signalized intersections, and roundabouts.• Prepared and delivered four 80-minute lectures on traffic signal warrants and operations, HCS, Synchro, and AutoTURN. Prepared two 80-minute lectures on actuated isolated and coordinated signal timing.• Held biweekly office hours and helped proctor midterm and final exams. -
Reader/GraderUniversity Of Washington Civil And Environmental Engineering Mar 2022 - Jun 2022Seattle, Washington, United StatesCEE 327 Transportation Engineering• Graded seven homework assignments on road-vehicle performance, highway geometric design, traffic flow theory, freeway capacity and LOS, signal timing, pavement design, and travel demand forecasting for 55 students.• Helped answer homework-related questions from students, helped proctor the midterm exam, and worked closely with the course TA and instructor. -
Transportation Engineering InternKittelson & Associates, Inc. Jun 2021 - Sep 2021Orlando, Florida, United StatesConducted future year operational analyses of a 2.76-mile section of westbound I-4 near Disney World for a no-build alternative and express lane merge alternative using Highway Capacity Software and PTV Vissim. Analyzed traffic operations of a busy intersection in Campbell, FL for a no-build alternative and three build alternatives (resurfacing, quadrant roadway, and flyover) in opening, interim, and design years using PTV Vissim and Synchro. Developed and calibrated traffic microsimulation models in PTV Vissim for both projects. Implemented existing signal timings from traffic signal controllers and proposed new signal timings in PTV Vissim for the Campbell intersection project. -
