The co-founders of discover and draw are Petra and Brenton Schwab.In late 2022, Petra and Brenton developed ideas for workshops, and as a result discover and draw was registered as a business (ABN: 87 544 030 290).Our workshops include historical aspects of botanical illustration, plant identification and drawing foundations. We give students a chance to slow down and participate in mindful observation and the meditative processes of plant ID and drawing. The emphasis is on observing the finer details of plants and getting closer to nature. The ability to sit still and observe details of the world around us, combined with learning to communicate through drawings, has been proven beneficial for deepening observational skills (Hale, 2015).Furthermore, while developing observation skills, we improve communication, adaptability, and critical thinking, bringing us more into the present, minimising distractions, and enabling self-reflection.Follow us on Instagram and YouTube, links below.
