CurrentOur firm provides critical analysis and coaching to philanthropic investors, business leaders and advocates to help them tackle the complex problems that affect their communities. Current activities:• Leading the Making Money Matter Initiative, in partnership with the Minneapolis Foundation (and others), to help financial advisors and family offices and their high-net worth clients create impactful social investment plans.• Recently finished a series of case studies highlighting different approaches to impact investing and social finance. Cases have been taught at Said Business School, Oxford University, and other academic venues (cases are available on pfc website.) Cases include: o A ten-year retrospective funded by the Lumina Foundation focused on Lumina Impact Ventures, the foundation’s impact investing program and their strategy of investing in start-up edtech firms. o A strategic plan for the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Family Foundation on how members of the Detroit Arts Support organization can increase funding of arts initiatives in Southeast Michigan. o Several case studies funded by Partners for a New Economy (Swiss Foundation) that focus on new economic models and ideas. Concepts studied include: (1) New economic models challenging traditional neoliberal economic thinking (New Approaches to Economic Challenges at the OECD); (2) New ways that corporations can measure their social and environmental impact beyond ESG (Future-Fit Foundation); (3) Implementing Community Wealth Building strategies at the local level and at scale (Democracy Collaborative); (4) Using a Systems Change approach in the UK to “transform the UK financial system for people and planet.” (Finance Innovation Lab).
