My career path has diverged from its intended creative-based future. Along my many adventures across the United States and the world I wore many hats and gained invaluable knowledge. Spending most of my career freelancing not only provided freedom by allowing me work on my own terms, it also taught me responsibility and gave me unique insights about my career choices and about my personal desires and abilities. To date I have not stopped continuing my education. In the past, on-the-job training and self-education were how I picked up the skills that rounded out my abilities and made me an ideal candidate for short- term work, especially with smaller organizations that couldn’t afford to micromanage. Today I am fortunate to work for a university allowing me to study in a formal environment. Here, I fully realized what I was seeking as a career goal. I can crunch away at a computer or a repetitive task like a machine, but I have a knack for client relations. In Admission Operations I facilitate the enrollment experience for domestic and foreign applicants and address their concerns in a spirited and courteous manner. While working a range of jobs from waiting tables to graphic artist to cost control analyst to admission operations officer, I learned I am highly adaptable and dedicated while excelling at meeting the needs of clients, customers and employers. I have cultivated these characteristics over time and I intend to continue to master these skills and learn many more as I grow with The New School.
