Developed Melt Treatment and Casting Technology, Equipment and Procedures for primary Magnesium and its alloys. Process included: Horizontal Direct Chill Casting, Ingot Chain conveyor Casting.

Participated in contract projects for external clients including fabrication/manufacturing firms, law firms and mining and primary metals producers. Also involved in tutoring and part-time lecturing.

Participated and coordinated industrial research projects in the field of melt treatment and casting of primary Aluminium and it's alloys. Highlights included the further development of air cushion casting process developed by Showa Aluminium, Japan.

Responsible for technical aspects of sheet production including pass schedules, heat treatment, rolling lubrication system management and troubleshooting of customer issues. Additionally responsible for the application of the Alcan Rolling Model to the Granville Hot Mill.

Assigned to Banbury Research Center to participate in the development of a new improved hot rolling lubricant. Worked at Esso laboratories, Abingdon on chemical formulation and at Alcan Laboratories testing lubricants on instrumented laboratory scale hot mill. Travelled throughout Europe and the UK visiting Alcan rolling mills to categorize the design and performance of their rolling lubricant and lubricant delivery systems.

Assigned to Sheet Mill to conduct development projects in lubrication and rolling performance. Implemented and managed the hot rolling lubricant testing program. Also involved in resolving lubrication issues in cold and foil mills related to surface finish and odor release.

Employed by Alcan as a graduate engineer. Responsible for the development of a process for the removal of Al(OH)3 from anodizing plant rinse waters. Adapted conventional dissolved air flotation process using SLS surfactant addition prior to flocculation yielding a faster rising, denser and more robust floc bed. Subsequently assigned to projects in Al extrusion including improvements to caustic die cleaning process, standing wave extrusion bed quench system and age hardening heat treatment process optimization.
