Multiplex is a primary construction contractor focused on delivering landmark buildings throughout the globe. During my industrial placement year at the company I was a member of the mechanical and electrical engineering team, primarily involved in the design, procurement and management of all associated services at 100 Bishopsgate – a new 40 storey commercial tower recently constructed in Central London. Key responsibilities:- Managing and coordinating subcontractors, both on site and in office, and supervising operators on site- Overseeing testing of installations, including pipework, fire dampers and transformers- Quality assurance- Reviewing and developing drawings and schematics, including use of CAD- Data analysis, including extensive use of Microsoft Excel- Approving daily permits for site activities - Method statement risk assessment- Attending/holding meetings to monitor progress, solve problems, and plan future works- Meeting with the consultant weekly to inspect progress on site and identify issues to be resolved- Training site staff on safety procedures, including procedure in the event of catastrophic water leaksSkills developed:- Good eye for detail- Confidence in decision making - Problem solving - Teamworking- Leadership- Profesionalism- Health & safety consciousness - Public speaking
