Coming from a background of community newspapers, I stepped into a position as associate editor of a small trade magazine, Tobacconist, that my company had just purchased. This trade magazine quickly exploded from a 32-page saddle-stitched bimonthly magazine to larger than 360 pages in a single issue during the cigar boom. Eventually my duties have been expanded to overseeing a consumer publication and another industry trade publication. Small staff worked closely as a dysfuntional family--but still consider them family even though I don't see them as often as I would like.

small weekly newspaper in my home county. I began as a stringer photographer during my freshman year of high school and quickly added reporting duties. By the time I left for college, I had regular beats of the two largest city governments and the largest school system. It was quite the experience of riding my bike to meetings and events, and then doing everything at the newspaper office from pasting up type, to delivering newspapers to the racks and post office from time to time.
