NAME grant research on diamond (and other) material for maser operation

Diamond material research on growth and defect incorporation for both natural and lab-grown specimens. The primary use of this information directly relates back to consumer confidence. Experimental techniques include, but not limited to, Raman and PL imaging, absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis & IR), electron paramagnetic resonance and SEM-CL imaging with spectroscopy.

As part of the Diamond Science and Technology CDT at the University. This placement started in 2014, however the academic year 14/15 focussed on the completion of the MSc component in Diamond Science and Technology along with two 10-week mini-projects based at the University of Warwick and the University of Strathclyde.My PhD title is "Single Defect Imaging Studies in Diamond" and will look at the point defect incorporation in to single crystal diamond, both natural and synthetic.
