After 48 Years in the IT Industry, working on and programming everything from the largest mainframe; the first PCs; the dawn of mobile computing and digital data transmission; and the Internet/Web - I've now done. Will still keep up to date with technology and maybe 'keep my hand in' with the odd bit of coding, but am now going to spend more time on photography and hitting balls around a golf course. Technology has changed dramatically over the course of my working life and I feel I've been at the forefront of most of it. I've enjoyed every minute, (well maybe not 'every') , and feel privileged to have been part of the evolution of what is now available.Still interested in technology and helping people get the most from it..so if the right opportunity arises...who knows.

Consultancy to advise on data migration from Siclops to a new in house system.Arolite: Ongoing consultancy, training and report writing services.Carter Synergy: Managing the procurement of a new Service Management System, through production of RFI, collating responses, organising workshop demonstrations etc. Once system installed (Solarvista), project managed the role out of mobile devices and software to 300+ engineers. Connaught Compliance: Producing Management reports and helping with the rollout of 'Siclops' to 7 branches.Ascot Doors: Helping with the procurement of systems for their manufacturing division and project managing the implementation of same.Ascot Doors - Analysed business requirements in service division; upgraded systems (Siclops) to latest version to improve efficency of operation and best practice; produce training & procedure manuals; Management reports, and support rollout and live implementation.

In 2017 we created i.™ , an entire group of IT , sales and marketing services surrounding our wearable personal display called the i.™. The i.™ allows users to display what they believe in and how they feel and interact with Like minded users. The i.™ incorporates two patented technologies and a new set of standards for the IOTV or internet of the Visible

CSGroup acquired Advatech in 2004, and appointed Phil as MD / Development Director of the Liverpool Office.

Development Director responsible for the on going design of the Siclops Service Management system, and managing a team of software engineers. Also managed the business alongside MD.

‘C-Star’ was started by Phil Jones in 1982, to specialise in PC based software for small and medium sized businesses. Over the following 20+ years, C-Star developed a number of packaged applications, as well as designing bespoke software for specific needs, most integrating to financial systems. General consultancy and advice was also provided to a number of organisations, helping with the procurement and implementation of third party products. C-star were also early adopters and leaders in the field of portable computing, being one of the first UK software producers to develop integrated data capture and mobile data applications. C-Star merged with Advatech in 1997, in order to further sales of its 2 main software packages, ‘Hiremate’ and ‘Siclops’. Advatech was acquired by CSGroup in 2004, which itself then sold to IRIS. The 2 systems are still marketed by IRIS and remain leaders in the Plant Hire and Field Service industries respectively.

Managed a team of developers to produce a mainframe based share registration system. Once system was live, I was retained as one of 2 trouble shooters, supporting the mainframe production team, and producing ad hoc reports.

Contracted to Simon's to help with conversion of their systems from ICL to Honeywell Mainframes. Programmed in COBOL and GMAP.

Started as a Junior Programmer, using COBOL and Assembly language on IBM 370 Mainframes. Over the 4 years I progressed to Senior Programmer, Software Designer then Analyst.Left to move back north and become freelance.

My first introduction to Computers - I was a Junior Operator working with ICL 1904 Mainframes. The company operated a bureau service for a number of larger business, including KTel; Dalgetti, and even the BBC - doing the computations for the weekly Music Top 20 !

Lab Technician working in various departments over the 4 years I was here. Preparation of antibiotic solutions for production; through to Quality Control of finished product. Left to go to London and explore new horizons.
