Prepare food boxes for distribution to those families who qualify in Lubbock and throught much of the Texas south plains area. The boxes consist of cereal, canned goods, dry goods such as pasta, rice, beans and the like.Have also prepared boxes of frozen foods for distribution and performed other tasks as needed.

Business Administrator for a 5000 member downtown church.. Staff liaison to the Budget, Finance, Investment, Stewardship, Everliving Church Trust endowment committees and Trustees. Primary contact for any member having questions relating to their pledge or other financial matters. Supervised the administrative support staff, Business Office, Director of Facilities and Food Service and the Events and Wedding Coordinator. Convened and led weekly staff meetings. Facilitated, with my wife, the first three Financial Peace University courses held at the church. Coordinated the work of the “Christmas with Dickens” construction committee.

. Worked with member churches seeking new electricity service contracts. Interacted on a daily basis with the marketing representative for First Choice Power, the preferred provider for Church Supplies and Services, Inc. member churches and schools.

. Was staff liaison to the Budget, Business Affairs, Center Operations, Outreach and Personnel Committees. Responsible for the day to day operations and maintenance of the center. Oversaw upgrade of center computer system from a pier to pier network to a server network. Worked with Real Estate Agents to list properties that were to be sold. Developed an Employee Appraisal plan that was used for six years. Was primary contact for ministries and programs supported by the Outreach budget. Attended the annual meetings of the Presbyterian Stewardship Network. Consulted with congregations in the area of stewardship and gave stewardship sermons when requested. Worked with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance national office in coordinating the response of the presbytery to Hurricane Rita and the affected churches in east Texas.

Responsible to the Pastor and Session for overall financial and business management of the church and for stewardship development. Managed a staff of seventeen directors, supervisors and administrative assistants. Wrote new Employee Handbook to replace outdated policy statement. Designed and wrote stewardship information and campaign brochures. Arranged for the acquisition of additional property adjacent to the church. Served as an ex officio member of the Finance Committee, the Permanent Fund Ministry, the Personnel Committee and the Property Committee

. Managed the day-to-day business of the Cathedral. Coordinated and oversaw the maintenance, upkeep and restoration of historically significant facilities for an active and growing urban parish. Wrote the first Personnel Policies and Procedures handbook for Cathedral employees. Developed and managed operating budgets. Served as staff liaison with the architect, engineers and general contractor on a seven million dollar new building and renovation program. Worked closely with the clergy and church staff at the diocesan and parish level as well as church officers, laymen and civic leaders on a daily basis in promoting the ministry of the church.

After three months training in tropical agriculture on the Hawiian island of Molokai arrived in Samoa in January 1968. Served as an agriculture extension agent on the island of Savai'i in the village of Foalalo until April of 1969. After a hospital stay and recuperation from a septic infection in my left foot served as an ag ext. agent in Saleimoa on the island of Upolu. Dan Mueller and I operated an experimantal station growing bananas, pineapples, various vegetables and raising chickens. Returned to the United States in November 1969.
