Significant Achievements: • Developed a Quality Technician viewed as a “problem child” into a valuable employee, functioning at the Quality Engineer level whose input was sought out. • Successfully handled and integrated the work of two Quality Engineer positions into one by using a hands-on, team approach with my quality staff to cover three plants with 105 employees. At the same time, performed the quality function for multiple new product introduction teams and was an active member of 2 or 3 Business Teams. • Successfully integrated quality methods and philosophy into multidisciplinary new product development teams: M120 meter project came in under cost targets, at a final test yield of 99% (yields of 95%+ were considered exceptional), and a corresponding lack of internal problems. External failure costs were 0.2% of sales. • Set appropriate tolerances with design engineers and produced higher quality parts in production by using advanced capability studies on sample sizes of 10 to drive improvement. • Customer complaints were reduced 80% through effective corrective actions in the Large Meter Plant. • Used designed experiments to save $40,000/year at final test. • Successfully reduced defects by 96% in Large Meter Plant’s Dept 11 (screw machines and stamping). Yields and set-up times were also reduced sufficiently to eliminate overtime in the Department 11. • Work done with key casting supplier, allowed them to achieve Badger Meter’s certified supplier status. -
