Initially employed after Black Saturday Bush Fires on restoration of fire effected roads and other assets which included liasing with contractors and programming works etc.I then worked as Capital Works Engineer for the "Murrindindi Construction" arm of council , submitting tenders for works and then project managing works.One such project was the widening of a length of Eildon Jamieson Road.I then filled a 12 month temporary position of Manager Projects for the council, where I managed a team of engineering staff deliver council funded and externally funded infrastructure works.

Bendigo Victoria

Initially I was employed as a Engineering Assistant/Draughtsperson and was involved with investigation, survey, design, estimating and scheme preparation for footpath, kerb and channel and drainage works throughout the city. I studied part time at the Bendigo College Of Advanced Education, and after graduating in 1983, I was employed as a civil engineer still involved with investigating, surveying ,designing, estimating, scheme preparation and some council reports.I then did the Subvisions Engineer role for 12 months to broaden my experience, and also was the Special Projects Engineer for 12 months. As Special Projects Engineer, I undertook a wider variety of projects as well as being involved in the Bendigo Regional Waste Management Committee.These roles suited the experience that I needed to complement my studies in the Municipal Engineers Course. Bendigo Council was a great training organisation and was a terrific place to work and develop as a young engineer.

Tungamah Victoria (Near Yarrawonga)

At Tungamah Shire,I carried out engineering investigations, survey, design, setting out and project management of municipal projects both council funded and VicRoads(the known as CRB), funded. Councils main assets were:rurral roads, rural bridges and council buildings. I also carried out occasional building inspections to assist the Shire Engineer/Building Surveyor.Although I was part of a very small team at Tungamah,(5persons in the office),and 25 outdoor staff, I had a great time and learnt a lot . Tungamah Council and the people of Tungamah and surrounding areas, were very friendly, and this position was a great base to start a carreer in local government engineering.
