I have been working with all types of vessels since 12 December 1974 when I walked up the gangway of a 22,000 ton tanker as a junior engineer. I have worked as chief engineer since 1990, apart from 7 years between 2004 and 2011 when I was Vessel Docking superintendent and filling the roll of Technical Manager for Tidewater Australia In 2011 I returned to a sea going roll with Programmed Total Marine working 12 months for Bourbon Asia AHTS. 6 moths for Boa SubC 134m Multi purpose and Doff Offshore AHTS. In 2014 I returned to Tidewater Marine as Chief Engineer on a AHTS. After this I worked for GO marine Group International on AHTS and I did two trips on the Surf Supporter a 94m MPOSV.On a personal level. Since the down turn in the industry I have not looked for work I am 65 in October 2016 and although still active finished work April 2016. I feel if I took a sea going roll then maybe a younger man with a mortgage and children to support would not get a job. I do of course miss the life and should the industry pick up whilst I am still active would prefer a shore based position. I have a 23ft caravan in Australia also a very original 1970 Peugeot 404 sedan and a 1963 fibreglass caravan a Lilliput Gazelle in New Zealand. the plan is to live between the two countries and the two caravans. In 2011 I started an online store and am still director / owner, we now have several websites which I have been developing since the down turn in the marine industry.www.onlinecartech.com.auwww.foxwell.com.auI enjoy vehicle rally's and recently attended the 2016 VERO vintage car rally in Dunedin NZ with my Peugeot and Lilliput. We took 1st in our class and 2nd overall for the rally. We will be attending the next NZ international vintage car rally in Taranaki NZ 2021.I still enjoy fishing and rebuilding machinery.
