I am now available for work on a freelance basis as a copywriter, web and social media content creator, proofreader and journalist/photojournalist.

In this position, I was the lead on a number of projects promoting London South East Colleges in a good light through the achievements of its students (both FE and HE), alumni, apprentices and corporate clients as well the staff. I also provided high-quality internal communications across a number of platforms in the College, its University Centre, the Multi-Academies Trust and the Apprenticeship Company throughout the London boroughs of Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich.I worked closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications writing press releases, news stories, correspondence, staff and student e-newsletters and with the Marketing team on corporate brand management, recruitment advertising campaigns, website and online presence.The services I provided included copywriting and journalism, internal and external communications, press-relations, copy editing and proof-reading, professional photography, social media, e-marketing and website content management.In this role, I worked as part of a magnificent team that has played a significant role in achieving the country’s first three-way FE college merger, the winning of a Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2019, and three major Tes FE Awards in 2021 - including best FE provider.

In January 2015, I took on a project management role (4 month short-term contract) for Shaw Trust to upgrade the branding and marketing efforts of a newly formed special education academy trust in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. The trust was made up of four separate academies which were in need of new marketing materials such as prospectuses and brochures, corporate logos, branding guidelines and a promotional video.

Design of prospectuses, annual reports and brochures. Design, development and content management of websites and other digital media. Written articles and advertising copy, news stories, captions and headlines etc. Creative and artistic direction for promotional videos. For the last 12 months of my contract I took overall management of Lambeth College's Marketing and Communications team (of 5 staff) for an agreed interim period. I was responsible for planning advertising campaigns, the origination, design, production and distribution of publications and other marketing materials, public relations and online reputation, managing the marketing budget and liaison with the College's senior and key staff in providing a service to all schools and service departments, community stakeholders and governors.Please note: South Bank Colleges was formally known as Lambeth College. It changed its name and rebranded in January 2022.

In this job I worked at a local Skills Centre as a trainer and team leader to people who were enrolled onto the 'Employment Training' (ET) government training schemes of the time (now defunct). I taught graphic design, screen-printing and pre-press techniques to people with disabilities or those who were considered ex-offenders and in need of job skills training.
