Scrum Master And Intermediate Software Engineer Applications, Product DevelopmentHewlett Packard Enterprise Oct 2015 - Dec 2016Bristol, United KingdomI am the scrum master for a team of developers and testers creating cutting edge storage solutions. I am currently responsible for the design and implementation of a new Event and Audit logging system in our product and defining and evangelising our test processes. I also run the CI process for our team, integrating the various components into a deployable software image. My other responsibilities include running the Intern recruitment programme for HPE Bristol. This role has required me to attend University events to talk to students about intern and graduate opportunities. I also screen, arrange and carryout interviews. I then organise and run assessment days before finally running the selection and onboarding process. -
Sw Engineer ApplicationsHewlett-Packard Oct 2013 - Oct 2015Bristol, United KingdomAfter working in QA and test for a little over 3 years I have moved into a more development focused role to build my skill set in this area. I am still working for the same organisation creating a extensive family of enterprise network attached data storage products, ranging from a virtual storage appliance all the way up to a scalable multi Petabyte rack based solution. I am part of the continuous Integration team, we run nightly builds using Jenkins which compile and build code from various globally disparate teams, creating a product which we then run through a series of smoke tests before releasing to the QPnT teams. This new role has required me to learn how Continuous Integration system work, I have implemented several changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of our systems, using the skills I gained from my years in the test organisation. In order to provide a stable product I have needed to qualify the code on a wide range of systems, In the past year I have greatly enhanced my experience of:Continuous Integration Systems and process (i.e. Jenkins)VagrantHypervisors (Microsoft HyperV, KVM, vSphere)Operating Systems (HPUX, Solaris, AIX) -
Sw Engineer QaHewlett-Packard Jul 2012 - Dec 2016Bristol, United KingdomI am part of a team that develops software tools and test routines to perform test and QA of a complex family of enterprise network attached data storage products used by many of the largest corporations in the world. I design, develop, test and deploy and support the software tools required by the R&D and QA teams.I started this role as a Graduate after obtaining my first class degree. I was positioned in the Performance Test team. This role has further developed my understanding of the disk based backup solutions developed by HP. Whilst my role in functional test gave me a good understanding of the customer experience this role has developed my understanding of the subsystems and how they interact, in particular strengthening my understanding of SCSI & FC. I have also learnt how we can use Chef to help test client management. The test suites I work on are developed in Perl/XML/C# while the system under test is developed in C & C++ on Linux. I work in an agile development environment directly with the software development teams.

Functional Test DeveloperN.Able Technology Services Sep 2011 - Jul 2012After my internship at Hewlett Packard I was asked to stay on part time. I worked as a contractor through N.Able whilst simultaneously completing my final year studies. I worked approximately 20 hours a week in the same role that I was conducting as an Intern. This experience has helped to strengthen my multitasking and organisational skills, particularly when prioritising tasks with similar deadlines. -
Qa Functional Test InternHp Jun 2010 - Sep 2011Bristol, United KingdomI worked within the storage works division at HP; specifically the D2D group, who research and develop cutting edge disk based backup solutions. I worked within the multinational, Functional Test QA team, consisting of people working primarily in the UK, USA and India. These experiences have provided me with excellent communication and organisational skills. I was the owner of 8 of our 15 functional test areas ranging from networking to GUI testing; I was tasked with developing test plans from top level specifications, and producing test cases that the execution team could run.Much of the second half of my placement was spent automating these tests whilst supporting the execution team in their manual execution. The automation process involved writing Perl scripts that plugged into a set of in-house developed modules and also using external tools such as Selenium (for GUI testing). Results from these tests would then be posted into Quality Centre (ALM). My other key responsibilities included; training the execution team and new starters, updating test cases when new functionality was released and performing regression tests to validate new firmware versions.
