I have worked in the IT industry for nearly thirty years, commencing with field servicing and moving through a variety of management positions to my current role in project management. Having established both good practical skills and management skills in my initial roles I progressed into a succession of management roles, including Repair Team Manager for UCL, Test Manager for Microtech and Production Manager for CIL.Following my move to Reynolds and Reynolds (formerly Kalamazoo) in 1989 I held positions as a Senior Engineer, Service Manager, Technical Consultant, Project Manager, Business Development Manager and Bids Manager.Having been on the periphery of the sales world for many years (pre-sales support, account management, service reviews, bids management) I then crossed over completely to the dark side. I worked as a sales executive for Cognitive Network Solutions, a highly specialised, stable and independent customer-focussed company with expertise in data management, storage and back-up across a range of leading vendor products.After a spell as a self-employed proprietor of a B&B in Dunster, Somerset, I've now returned to the world of IT as a Project Manager at Shearwell Data, a market-leading manufacturer of animal identification, management and information systems. I have combined my career with constant academic study, which includes an Engineering HNC from Oxford University, a Certificate in Management from the Chartered Institute of Management, Prince 2 certification and a CompTIA CDIA+ qualification. I am also a qualified (DTLLS) teacher within the Further / Adult Education sector, following a course of study at the University of Worcester.Away from work I play bass guitar for Turnette Doone, an established pop and rock covers band, frequently performing at pubs, clubs and festivals throughout the South West.......and no, you can never have too many bass guitars :-)Specialties: Service management, account management, sales, sales support, project management, print management, managed services, product management, computer maintenance, training, service level agreement (SLA) design, implementation, management and reporting, budgetary control, product and service pricing.
