Hexion Specialty Chemicals BV is a subsidiary of the Hexion Corporation, a company owned by Apollo Management LP a major private equity firm.As Site Manager I was responsible for the Hexion site at Pernis – Rotterdam, the Netherlands and a production unit located in Wesseling, Germany. The plants produce epoxy resins, its precursors and specialty epoxies. At both locations the company had challenges related to equipment reliability and at Pernis also HR/organizational.

Tronox Pigments Services GmbH is a subsidiary of the Tronox Corporation, an American Inorganic Chemicals manufacturing and marketing company with its headquarter in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma – USA. The company has been established by an IPO of the Chemicals division of Kerr-McGee.The Technical Service director I was responsible for the technical marketing of Titanium dioxide products in Europe and Northern Africa. The responsibilities included the technical support for customers, provide market input for new product development and globally champion quality focus in the manufacturing organization.

Kerr-McGee Pigments (Holland) B.V. was the name of Tronox Pigments (Holland) B.V. prior to the IPO of the Tronox Corporation and one of the titanium dioxide pigment production locations of that company.The Plant Manager had the over-all responsibility for the Kerr-McGee’s Titanium dioxide pigment production facility in the Netherlands. After Kerr-McGee acquired the titanium dioxide production facility in the Netherlands from Kemira Oy, I stayed in the General Manager’s position re-titled Plant Manager. The responsibilities of the Plant manager include Safety, Health & Environmental performance, Business performance measured by quality, volume and cost, Financial reporting, Procurement, Technology and Engineering, and Human Resource policies. The plant has about 260 employees on the pay-roll, provides employment to another 50 - 100 contractors and has an annual turnover of € 100 -150 million.

Kemira Pigments (Holland) B.V. is a subsidiary of Kemira Oy, a Finnish Chemical Company with its headquarters in Helsinki – Finland. As General Manager I had the over-all responsibility for the Titanium dioxide pigment plant of Kemira in the Netherlands. The plant had in this period an annual turnover of € 70 - 80 million. The facility operated from 1988 through 1998 at an operating loss of about € 5 - 10 million per annum and in that period experienced 2 fatal incidents. I was hired by Kemira to turn the HSE and Financial performance of the facility around.
