Philip Barnard is an Associate at Golder with 19 years’ experience and leads the Environmental Engineering Team which includes strategic planning, business development, development and selection of service offerings, recruitment, operational management of the team and the team’s role and positioning within Golder. The team specialises in landform design, cover/capping design, selective material movement strategies and optimisation, waste landform design based on a good understanding of material characteristics for landform construction, landform evolution modelling, slope stability analysis, rehabilitation planning, closure costing and options assessment for preferred final landform designs against economic, social, environmental and constructability criteria.Philip regularly attends mining and closure related conferences such as The International Mine Closure Conference, Land and Rehabilitation Society of South Africa, International Mine Water Association and Water Research Commission workshops and has also presented and/or co-authored papers at these conferences.Philip primarily leads the engineering design aspects for the rehabilitation of open pit mines and mine residue/tailings storage facilities as the senior design engineer and/or project manager.
