I joined Redhead Freight Limited in 1985 on an apprenticeship scheme through the national Youth Opportunity Scheme. I was nurtured by a small, yet particular talented and successful team and over the years we grew into one of the leading, privately owned, international freight forwarding businesses. I was extremely fortunate to be part of this team and was able to evolve alongside the business, experiencing many interesting and varied challenges along the way. From humble beginnings and following expansive growth of the business, I joined the senior management team as Operations Director in 2004. The business continued to thrive and in 2016 we were acquired by DB Schenker. If my previous 30 years of working with a successful privately owned business wasn’t enough, I am now enjoying being part of the senior management team for one of the worlds largest logistics companies: DB Schenker, within their UK/IE land division. Previous positions include: Operations Director (Redhead) after transitioning into DB Schenker as Head of Operations, I am now beginning a new combined role as Head of Strategy, Head of Network & Linehaul and senior project manager.Main achievements to date: (2006) IT system integration - lead role in the operational implementation of a new IT system (Transport Management System) into the business.(2016) Business integration (reverse) - as part of our senior management team we undertook a reverse Integration of DB Schenker UK (Land division) into Redhead.(2020) Covid-19, operationally lead the transformation of the business to enable new-essential staff working from home whilst maintaining a safe operational environment for essential office staff, the warehouse operation & drivers.(2021) Brexit, lead the re-shaping of the operation to accommodate the new customs import & export procedures & processes.(2022) Business Integration - as part of the senior management team, we integrated the Redhead business into Schenker UK (Land division).
