Performed audit and accounts preparation work at a regional accounting practice. Gained an understanding of the IRIS accounts software. Role was performed as a five week temporary contract, primarily based in their Manchester office.

Worked as an audit associate, within many audit teams at a wide variety of clients across the North West. I have worked on a variety of audit accounts and stages of the audit, including both planning and year end work, helping me gain a wider understanding of the audit process. I have worked with manufacturing, construction, legal and software firms on their year-end financial audits, ranging from large PLCs to smaller privately owned entities. As a first year I took care of simpler FSLIs such as cash and fixed assets and as a second year I carried out substantive testing over more complicated areas and also coached the more junior members of the team. As part of my work I formed strong and meaningful relationships with key stakeholders at my clients which helped my teams to work collaboratively. This also helped when I frequently discussed audit issues with senior staff at clients such as Financial Directors. Worked as part of an R&D team where I was responsible for research on the SPD-SmartGlass technology used in the magic sky control panorama roof for the Mercedes SLK. I constructed my own samples (both small scale and full size) and tested them over time as they were exposed to repeated heating and cooling. I documented my findings in a report on switch speed which ended up contributing to the product specification eventually sent to Mercedes.
