I have just shy of 20 years of experience working in the book industry. I joined it as a bookseller (Waterstones), migrated to a journalist (The Bookseller), and most recently spent five years as Penguin Random House’s insight manager. I’m all about using data to better understand UK book market trends and have spent the last decade analysing UK market sales and demographic stats on an almost daily basis. At The Bookseller, I developed a reputation as one of the UK’s foremost book industry experts, regularly appearing on radio and television talking about the UK consumer trends.After taking my experience, skills and passion to the UK’s biggest trade publisher, Penguin Random House, I’m now embarking on a couple of new challenges: freelancing for clients in need of someone to cut through big data noise; and working on my own publishing start-up.
